Safety Concerns Prompt Building Renovations

Thursday, December 6, 2012  Due to some safety concerns in and around the firehouse, members voted to repair, upgrade, and replace many different aspects of the building and grounds. Included was a brand new anti-skid epoxy floor, 4 brand new garage bay doors with LiftMaster safety sensors, a new fire alarm system, new concrete steps, a new concrete apron in front of one of the bays, and new paint and remodeling in the engine room itself.

All of these renovations and upgrades have made the Ferrell Fire Department compliant with state and insurance requirements.

The safe, decorative epoxy floor was done by Epoxy Flooring LLC of Forked River, NJ. The masonry and other building upgrades were done by JJF Masonry of Monroeville, NJ and the new doors were installed by Elmer Door CO. A special thank you goes to the members and businesses that helped with this project.

Check the gallery section of the website for all of the renovation pictures.

39-23 Assists Northern and Southern NJ Fire Departments Post Hurricane Sandy

Shortly after hurricane Sandy rocked the east coast, a tender from the Ferrell Fire Department was requested to assist other Fire Departments throughout NJ that were in need of extra support. Tender 39-23 and four firefighters from Ferrell joined a Gloucester County Strike Team and headed to East Brunswick to aid the departments in that area. 39-23 stood by in East Brunswick until their services were requested in Ocean County a few days later. 39-23 traveled to Beach Haven, NJ where they spent about another 2 days operating and assisting the Beach Haven Fire Department. All in all, 39-23 and its crew were in service for about 4 days. Thank you to all who responded and helped those in need after this very large and devastating storm.
